K3 surfaces are ubiquitous in mathematics. They appear in complex geometry, but also play a role in arithmetic or string theory. In this talk I will discuss K3 surfaces and their higher dimensional analogues, especially irreducible holomorphic symplectic manifolds (IHSM), also known as hyperkaehler manifolds (HK). I will also discuss the classification problem for these varieties, in particular the geometry of their moduli spaces.
