The recipient of the Lame Chair 2019 is Athanase Papadopoulos

The recipient of the Lame Chair 2019 is Athanase Papadopoulos, professor of the University of Strasbourg. Professor Papadopoulos is an internationally acknowledged expert in Teichmüller theory (especially in its geometric and dynamical aspects), as well as in the history of mathematics and mathematical music theory, the author of more than 180 scientific papers including 15 monographs.

During his 3-month visit to Saint Petersburg professor Papadopoulos will teach the lecture course Hyperbolic surfaces, measured laminations, Teichmüller spaces and dynamics”, conduct a series of research seminars and organize a 5-day international conference on geometry and dynamics of Teichmüller spaces.

Lame Chair is a joint project of the French Embassy in Russian Federation, Jacques Hadamard Mathematics Foundation and Saint Petersburg State University aimed at fostering scientific contacts between France and Russia in the field of mathematics.
